Newcomer Important Contacts

This guide can be completed by newcomer and sponsor. Kept on the refrigerator or another place convenient for the newcomer, it can be a helpful resource upon arrival and after. The guide contains the newcomer’s home address, sponsor contact, and areas for other community contacts. Newcomers can access the numbers for 911 and a crisis lifeline. The guide also connects newcomers to key resources such as Cultural Orientation, an Overview of the Sponsorship Journey, and a 5 Tips for Newcomers Working with Sponsors video.

Transition Meeting Guide

About two weeks before the end of the sponsorship period, newcomers and a member of the sponsor team meet to discuss the goals that they achieved. The Transition Meeting Guide provides questions common to newcomers and sponsors as the newcomers and sponsors move from formal sponsorship to good neighbors. It also suggests meeting activities such as completing a Transition Plan together and reviewing the calendar of activities. The guide helps newcomers and sponsors identify community resources that may be helpful for the newcomer’s goals for their future in the U.S.

Midpoint Meeting Guide

Halfway through the sponsorship period, newcomers and a member of the sponsor team meet to discuss sponsorship goals and decide on important next steps. The Midpoint Meeting Guide provides questions common to newcomers and sponsors at the midpoint of the sponsorship period. It also suggests meeting activities such as updating a Sponsorship Plan together and reviewing the calendar of upcoming activities. The guide helps newcomers plan the important goals and activities for the sponsorship.

Arrival Meeting Guide

In the initial week after arrival, newcomers and a member of the sponsor team meet to discuss sponsorship goals and decide on important next steps. The Arrival Meeting Guide provides questions common to newcomers and sponsors in the first days after arrival. It also suggests meeting activities such as completing a Sponsorship Plan together and reviewing the calendar of upcoming activities. The guide helps newcomers plan the important goals and activities for the sponsorship.

Newcomer Transition Plan

Near the last weeks of the sponsorship period, newcomers and sponsors can complete the Newcomer Transition Plan. After completing the plan, newcomers and sponsors will be able to celebrate the sponsorship activities they have done, agree on next steps, and identify resources for the newcomer’s future goals.

Newcomer Sponsorship Plan

During the sponsorship period, newcomers and sponsors complete important sponsorship activities. Newcomers, together with sponsors, can use this tool at the beginning and middle of the sponsorship period. After completing the plan, newcomers and sponsors will be able to celebrate the progress they have made and agree on next steps.

Newcomer’s Planning for Sponsorship Pack

The Newcomer’s Planning for Sponsorship Pack helps newcomers plan the important goals and activities for the sponsorship. These meeting guides, Newcomer Sponsorship Plan, Newcomer Transition Plan, and Newcomer Important Contact Guide are interactive tools newcomers can use to share goals and plan activities. When the guides and plans are used together, the toolbox helps newcomers and sponsors have a positive sponsorship experience from arrival to celebrating sponsorship success.
