Download FlyerSince Operation Allies Welcome launched in the wake of the evacuation of Kabul, the American public has shown an outpouring of support in welcoming and engaging in the resettlement of our Afghan allies. New programs and stakeholders have rapidly emerged, providing a variety of opportunities for the American public to meaningfully engage in welcoming and supporting more newcomers. Even more recently, there has been significant interest in extending that same welcome to Ukrainians fleeing the current conflict through Uniting for Ukraine.
During crisis response efforts, resettlement agencies and community-based organizations are often overwhelmed. Many organizations are not able to respond to all inquiries or even gather contact details while also managing program operations. Further, outside these moments of mass mobilization, there’s a tendency to recruit and promote getting involved in resettlement efforts with those contacts or networks with whom organizations have already established relationships — simply due to limited time and the high volume of work.
Building on this experience, the Refugee Welcome Collective and Community Sponsorship Hub invites you and your fellow community sponsorship colleagues to join us on June 14th at 3:00 p.m. ET for a roundtable discussion on how to expand your networks by harnessing interest and diversifying outreach.
