Due to the President’s Executive Order on Reevaluating and Realigning United States Foreign Aid, the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) directed Refugee Welcome Collective to immediately suspend work as of January 24, 2025. In compliance with this directive, all RWC offerings funded by PRM, such as Lunch and Learn webinars and Sounding Board social learning spaces, are canceled until further notice. Technical assistance booking is also unavailable at this time.

Breaking Bread, Building Bridges: The Power of Food in Fostering Cultural Integration

This session discusses how food can be a powerful tool for building connections and fostering cultural integration with refugee newcomers and sponsors and volunteers.

It’s not hard to understand how food can be used as a tool to help to build relationships around the world. Food is our unspoken ambassador, bringing people from various cultures together who wouldn’t cross paths otherwise and immediately providing a common ground. Around the world, building connections is the key to successfully integrating vulnerable, marginalized communities, such as refugees.
